sports aren’t just about competition -
At Ohio Hockey, I focused on purposefully collaborating with programs, organizations, and initiatives that aligned with its mission to create a positive impact both on and off the ice.
they are about connection.
In doing so, I helped the team turn partnerships into powerful opportunities to inspire, empower, and uplift audiences within and beyond Ossian C. Bird Ice Arena.
Morgan’s Message
Morgan’s Message® is a 501(c)(3) created in memory of Morgan Rogers, a former Duke Lacrosse student-athlete who died in 2019 from suicide.
Morgan’s Message® amplifies stories, resources, and expertise to strengthen student-athlete mental health. The organization is structured around an Ambassador system, establishing chapters with volunteer student-athletes on campuses across the United States.
Ohio University Sparkles
The Sparkles are a spirit squad, bringing together students with and without disabilities at Ohio University.
Their slogan, 'When Everyone Cheers, Everyone Wins,' aligns with Ohio Hockey’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and united community.
Through our partnership, we use the power of sports to bring people together, ensuring that every Bobcat feels valued, supported, and part of the game-day experience.
The Bandana Project
The Bandana Project is a national student-driven mental health awareness and suicide prevention campaign with chapters across colleges in the United States.
Members of this initiative tie a lime green bandana to their backpacks, signifying that they carry national and local mental health and suicide prevention resources. In other words, having a green bandana means you’re an advocate for mental health and a trusted source of support!
Bobcats of The Shelter Dogs
Bobcats of the Shelter Dogs (BOSD) is a student-led organization dedicated to supporting the Athens County Dog Shelter through volunteerism and fundraising efforts.
Just as Ohio University’s slogan “Forever OHIO” embodies a lasting connection to community and belonging, this partnership reflects our shared commitment to creating lasting bonds —whether it’s between students and their local hockey team or families and their new furry friends.
Lilly’s Sunshine
Lilly is a girl from Athens, OH who was born with Cystic Fibrosis. From the outside she looks like a typical teenager, but behind the scenes she works hard to combat the effect the disease has on her lungs, digestive system, liver, and bones.
Lilly’s late father, Daryn, was a dedicated physician who worked to find better CF treatments for his daughter. In his memory, Kathy, Lilly’s mother, continues their fight by raising funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation through Lilly’s Sunshine.
